Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September, and one of the four gems categorized as precious gems. Sapphire is from the corundum family, and comes in almost every color of the rainbow. Almost all Sapphire in the market today is heat treated to improve color, and clarity. It is accepted, and has been used for hundreds of years.
