Choosing An Engagement Ring

I am not a traditional person, and probably a little unconventional. My husband, and I, did not follow a traditional engagement at all. When we got engaged we really could not afford an expensive engagement ring, though of course it is every girls dream to own the perfect 1 carat diamond engagement ring. I had just began learning to make jewelry, so I told my husband to just get me a nice CZ solitaire set in real gold. Trust me that wasn't exactly cheap, but it was beautiful. Once I could afford a small blue diamond, I removed the CZ and put the blue diamond in. I wear it proudly to this day, with the blue diamond and pink sapphire wedding band I created to go with it. When we got married my husband gave me a white gold wedding band, with small diamonds. I wear that as a set with my blue tourmaline pear shape ring, or the rubellite tourmaline ring shown below. I alternate my sets depending on my mood, and what I am doing. Big bulky rings really do not suit my profession, or doing yard work. We have been married five years this March, and I think I might make yet another wedding band, with sapphires, the gemstone to celebrate five years of marriage. The videos below are fun to watch and discuss how to pick the perfect engagement ring.

Healing Properties Of Amethyst

A lot of people love the color purple. Since there are so many variations to the color purple, it is hard to say just one single hue of purple is the best. However the dark purple Amethyst is the most prized in the gemstone collecting world. It is thought to be the color of royalty, bringing power and strength. The video below will share the healing properties of those that wear Amethyst. A lot of gemstones, especially in the quartz family like Amethyst, are thought to hold healing elements to anyone that wears it. Amethyst can be both a feminine and masculine gemstone, and is the traditional birthstone for those born in the month of February.

Shapes Of Gemstones

Antique Cushion Cut Andesine/Labradorite ring. Did you know there are many different shapes of gemstones? What is your favorite? For me I think I like the trillion or triangle shaped. There are heart shapes, round, emerald, square or princess, pear, emerald, oval cuts, and the very flattering marquise cut. There may be others that I am unaware of. A rounded edge square cut is usually referred to an antique square cut. Where a pointed square cut is princess or square, depending on the faceting. Gem cutters try to cut a gemstone in the shape that is most flattering to that particular stone. Not all stones can be cut in all shapes due to internal flaws and inclusions that may be natural to that particular stone. I do not have a square, or heart shaped piece of jewelry to exhibit at this time. Please stop by my Etsy store, to check out all these lovely shaped gemstones.

Pink Mother Of Pearl Earrings

My pictures are not the best, but these are Pink Mother of Pearl earrings. I used pink jump rings to make them dangle a little bit more, and add some more pink color.
These are not loud or gawky, very comfortable for day or night. If you would like to purchase these you can visit my Etsy store.

Art Clay Silver

I actually heard about this Art Clay Silver, while listening to JTV a few days ago. I have been looking at it, and am considering giving it a try. I am not sure if it will be this year, or next, because like all new projects there is quite a bit of investment involved, so for now I will read, watch and learn. If any of my readers have any experience with this particular product, I would love to hear your experiences.
