Winner Of The White Topaz Earrings!

Many congrats to Mhars Display she is the lucky winner of the white topaz earrings. I will try to do another giveaway before Christmas. I will contact her on her blog, and she will have 48 hours to contact me with her shipping address. For some reason she does not respond, another name will be drawn.

August is the month of Peridot. This blog will be green in honor of Peridot my birthstone, for the month of August. How do you like the new layout? Is it cool, or not so much?

Win A Pair Of Diamond Cut White Topaz Earrings Sticky Post

I have not had a giveaway in forever. Since my birthday is coming up, I am giving one lucky winner a pair of White Topaz earrings. These earrings are sterling silver, post style with butterfly backs. Can't afford diamonds then these diamond cut White Topaz earrings are perfect. I sell these for 34.99 in my Etsy store. OK so what are the rules? They are simple, but I must tell you I can only ship to the US, and Canada, so please take note of that when entering. Last year I gave away a Sylvan workbook on my homeschool blog, and one of my readers pointed out to me that why would she want to post about it when she wanted to win it? Good point, so instead of doing a blog post about the contest you will be required to do a post about my Etsy store found here. You can pick a favorite item or just do a general post about my store with a link to the store. Some of my readers actually don't have blogs so you can tweet it on twitter, or facebook to get your entry in. You must leave me a comment with the link to the post that you did, and a way to contact you should you win. All entries are put into a hat, and one of my children will draw out a name. There are no favorites and everyone has equal a chance to win as anyone else.

If you want to follow me on Twitter or Facebook, both my Twitter link, and Facebook link can be found in the left or right hand column of this blog. This contest will run until July 31st at 8 PM, that will give everyone time to get their entry in. Only one lucky person can win these lovely earrings, so don't delay. This post will remain a sticky post until the end of the contest.

The Beauty Of Gemstones

This video is cool. The author will take you through some very unique, and beautiful gemstones. The names of the gems are in lower left hand corner. I think he could have placed them differently, and with different coloring to make them stand out more. Nonetheless it is a great little video. It show show all gems can be found in different shades, quality, and even forms.

Using A Gemstone Refractometer

My birthday is next month, and I am going to buy one of these gemstone refractometers. Maybe not the specific one shown, but one no less. I have been wanting one for a few years now. I have a loupe, dichroscope, and chelsea filter already. I also have a microscope but it is not great for gemstones, but it is helpful. I have so many loose stones that I have no idea what they are, and a few that I am sure are quite valuable stones. The video will show you how to use your refractometer, though if I remember correctly he should have closed the top of the machine not left it open.

Huge Pear Shape Madeira Citrine Pendant

Some of you may remember this stone it used to be in a ring I made. It was so large that I couldn't wear it, and no one was interested in buying it. So i put it in a pendant and I love it. Now I have to decide on what color beads to make the necklace to put it on. I am leaning towards red coral, but blue, green, and even pink or orange would look awesome. So what do all of you think? What color should I blend it with to make a bead necklace?

Note this gemstone was given to me as a gift from my sister. It was sold to her as Madeira Citrine which I suppose it does qualify as because it does have an orange hue to it, but true Madeira Cirtine is a wine color. This stone is huge weighing over ten carats. I may or may not list it in my store, after I have completed the necklace portion.
