Art Challenge Day 8 : Make A Change

This lion and cub painted plate, with sharpies and paint pens, was supposed to be for the Wild challenge theme. But, I did not like how the fur came out, using the pens, so I decided to removed it and start over. As I was trying to remove the art, I realized it looked really cool. Then, I remembered that Lions were added to the Endangered Species list in 2015. I was so sad to remember this. Our Earth is losing their beautiful animals very quickly. So, I decided to leave the fading Lion and cub for the make a change theme. This is a really cool piece of handmade home decor, for all animal lovers. You can visit my Etsy store to purchase, and check out all my other cool items.

Art Challenge Days 5, 6, and 7: Cold, Upcycle and Zentangle Flower with Ladybugs

Days 5, 6 and 7 are done. I have another item for Cold, but it is taking a while to make because I have limited time to work on it. Technically I have two more for cold, because they are both Winter themes. You can see both of these new items by clicking here, or clicking the My Etsy Shop widget in the left hand column.

First is a painted plate, using paint pens and Sharpie permanent markers. All hand drawn then painted. This is a 10 inch plate, it can be eaten on, and washed by hand, not dishwasher safe. It features multi colored daises, with tangle patterns, and some ladybugs.

Second to cover both upcycle, and cold is this recyled gallon jar into a hurricane lamp with an adorable snowman painted on. Again I used sharpie markers, but because I had no white I used acrylic paint, and some glow in the dark paint as well. This one can only be gently wiped with a wet cloth. I do sign all my items, and I heat set them as well. You can put a candle or solar light in there, or it can be a candy jar, cookie jar, or a vase even.

I am not sure what days I will do next.

Art Challenge Day 4: Heat

To represent the theme, heat, I chose some red hot glass beads to make some lovely jewelry pieces. The first two are leather wraps, the first one 7 inch, and the second one 6 inch with white glass pearls. Both have an angel wing charm dangle. The third is a wire wrapped ring done with brown craft wire, and accenting white glass pearls. It is a size 4 1/2. To see all of these pieces, please visit my Etsy store.   Don't forget to check out my clearance section while there.  Some great deals!

I have also completed the challenges for cold, upcycle, and zentangle flower with ladybug. I just have not had time to upload and list them yet. So, they will be in a future post, maybe tomorrow.

I have discovered my new love, besides the wrap bracelets, painting with paint pens and sharpies on glass, and ceramic plates. Ooh what fun, and they set so nice and are permanent. Not so much of a pain as acrylics.

Day 2 and 3 Art Challenge: Fireflies and Gothic Themes

I got days 2 and 3, of my art challenge completed.  Because I was doing bleach art for my firefly topic, I decided to do Gothic as well.  The firefly tshirt, is a mixed media art item.  I hand draw the images using just bleach and a small paint brush.  Then I used glow in the dark fabric paint to create the part of the firefly that would light up.  This is done on a dark gray size large youth tshirt.  It looks spooky and cool.

The item for Halloween/Goth is a sharpie painted plate with blue moon, cat and tree silhouette.  Sharpie art is permanent, and I heat set just to be sure it is permanent.  These are safe for eating, and washing by hand, not dishwasher safe.

To see both of these items, visit my Etsy shop.

Day 1 Art Challenge: Dragonflies

I had four wood slices, in coaster sizes left over, so I decided to use them for the dragonfly topic. I hand draw all my images onto my wood pieces, then using my wood burning tool, I wood burn the image in place. This time I decided to use some glow in the dark paint to paint in the wings. The glow of this paint, is very subtle. These are available in my Etsy store. I started my Lightning Bug project, but didn't get time to finish it.

Finally Starting My Art Challenge

Even though I have been working on three new projects, they are not part of my Art Challenge.  They are Christmas themed items, that I hope to have done very soon.  My Art Challenge is going to start today, though not in the order I listed, and won't be able to do one item everyday.  I just have too many other commitments right now, and I thought July would be lazy, lol,

My first challenge theme will be dragonflies, and then the next one will be fireflies, or lightning bugs, as I called them when I was a kid .  They will both be done today, and tomorrow, and I will get them posted.

If you would like to join in, just follow along, create your item, share it on your blog, or wherever you share it, drop me a comment, and we can share each other's work.  I try to do an Art Challenge every year, but last year I did not have the time to do so.

Stay tuned!
