Turquoise Alternative Birthstone For July

For all you July babies, who maybe can not afford a real nice Ruby, you have choices. Turquoise is an alternative birthstone for July babies, and a favorite of mine. The white pendant shown is Magnesite, also called White Buffalo Turquoise. It is a sacred gemstone to Native Americans. It is wire wrapped with a soft lovely wire. It is available for sale in my Etsy store. The lovely blue one is Turquoise from the Sleeping Beauty Mines, in AZ. It is some of the finest turquoise available today. Watch the video below to learn all about Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. Be sure to check out the Italian carvings, they are stunning.

Lemon Quartz and Orange Sapphire Ring

Sorry ladies this one is all mine. I have not made anything new in a while, the new car is pinching my budget. This is my birthday gift to myself, for next month. It is a sterling silver lemon quartz, and orange sapphires. The lemon quartz is a pear shape, and stone that is a soft yellow, with green hues to it. Like all quartz it is a durable gemstone. I initially wanted to put my smoky quartz in here, but the pavilion was a little to large to fit. I also made a tanzanite simple solitaire ring, which I will share later. Have a great Monday, everyone. Don't forget to visit my store and take advantage of my pink blush zircon sale.

Burma Rubies Banned

I believe it was last year, but might have been the year before, that the US banned the buying and selling of all Burmese Rubies. Rubies from Burma, are of the finest quality, but due to the dictator governments abuse of their people, the US put on the ban so we are not helping to fund that government, and their ways. This put a strain on the whole ruby industry, because technically there is no definite way to know a stone came from Burma or not, unless the trader is honest and says where it comes from. So a lot of buyers in the US had to stop buying rubies all together, without proof of where they were coming from. Of course if you are caught selling, or buying Burma rubies, after the ban the fines are extremely high. The ruby, one of the most precious gemstones in the world, having a hard time making it to markets.
