How To Paint A Lotus Flower

Today, I went and picked up another pair of flip flops to paint on, and a wooden frame to do my second try at wood burning. They probably won't get done until Monday, but that is ok. The Lotus flower paint video below, is for water colors. I use acrylics, but I am sure I can figure it out. Rosebuds are my favorites, but I truly love all flowers. I have not attempted to paint the lotus flower, yet. The wooden frame, I think I am going to make a baby theme, or wedding theme. I have not completely decided yet. Have an awesome weekend!

How to Paint Cala Lilies

I do not love all Lilies, but I do love Cala Lilies. I planted some this year, and they should be blooming soon. Yesterday, I was at Walmart, and I bought a wooden keepsake box. I think I am going to paint Cala Lilies on it. I have never tried the stroke shown below, in the video, so I will have to practice before I attempt it on the box. I will share when it is completed. I am still working on the red and black diaper cake. It probably won't be complete for another week. I really need to sit down and make some new jewelry pieces too. What have you been up to?

Day 4 Water Painting Challenge

This is my day four water painting challenge. This is from a photo that my son took while visiting Shired Island in 2012 at sunset. I got really close to the original picture, and this one is by far my favorite so far. I am still not happy with the small ripple waves, but I am still studying and hoping to get it down soon. Dark Purple and White Daisy Paintings

I tried painting the daisies again. This time I used a darker purple, rather than the lilac colored purple. I like the darker better, I think. The basket was done today, and it was hard because the basket is not smooth but rippled. It did come out quite lovely considering that fact. The picture and glass jar were done last Thursday. The jar is a pickle jar that was cleaned and sterilized, and now sits on my counter top with kitchen utensils in it. The video to learn how to paint these daisies is in the post below this one. One Stroke Painted Daisies

If you follow this blog, then you know I have been painting for over a year now, and I have really progressed so much. If you look at the bear below, which is painted on a recycled glass jar, and will be used for a Valentine's Day party for our homeschool group, then try to remember the one I painted last year. It is a huge difference. I should have taken a picture of them side by side to show the difference. I also have been practicing painting vines, flowers and leaves. I love these things and would love to paint them beautifully. They are a challenge for me though. I watched the video below several times, before I attempted her method of using the one stroke method with a round brush, rather than a flat edge brush. It was so much easier and the petals come out so nice. The framed daisies, will be available for purchase in my Etsy store soon. I am not sure if I am going to sell the vase. I really, really like it, and it looks lovely on my table. I found the red vase at a thrift store, and then of course I painted on the daisies. What have you painted, or crafted lately? Are you just starting to paint, or been doing it for a while?

My New Hand Painted Fall Table Setting

Check out my Fall table. I have hand painted all the items shown. Some were great treasures that I found at a thrift shop and revamped via painting into something new and beautiful. My daughter and I also painted the shower wall in the one bathroom. I will share that later. I will go through each piece on my new Fall table, in the next few days, so you can see them up close. I will tell you how I did it, and how you can do it too, all for close to nothing. Painting can be an expensive hobby, but I am finding it even more affordable than jewelry making, which I still love and adore.  There is one piece missing from the table, but I will show it when I get to it.  The Modge Podge sealer works best of all the sealers I have tried.  The others leave a film that I do not care for at all.  I reduced my Christmas ornaments down half price, because I don't like the way the other sealers look on them.  I hope to be getting a new batch of ornaments done soon.  Be sure to visit my Etsy store to see all my paintings and painted items up for sale.  Plus all my jewelry, cross stitch, and loose gemstones

Learn To Paint The Cabbage Rose

I know this blog is mainly about gemstones and jewelry, but I am expanding it a bit to include other crafts I am learning, or want to learn. I have recently began working on my counted cross stitch works again, and I want to learn to paint so badly. My mom gave me a whole set of Donna Dewberry VHS tapes. Until I can get the very old VHS player hooked up, these short little videos will do. They say the one stroke painting method is the easiest to learn. I just watched this video, and granted I have not tried it yet, it didn't look so easy. Do you paint? Do you use this method?
