4th of July Sale in My Store the Pink Flamingo

I have not started my crochet market bag yet, but now that my CEU's for my nursing license are done I can concentrate on some other things.  I really need to just do a few of them a month, and I won't get stuck doing them all at the end.  Good grief!

Make it Monday: Black Spinel Ring

I am trying to buy a new ring setting, each month, or bracelet, pendant, etc. I like rings though, so that is what I usually pick. This is not the only item I completed this week. There is a pair of Peridot earrings, some new etched glass wine bottles, and finishing up a crochet baby blanket. All of these items, can be seen in my Etsy shop. I am still working hard to try and do more than one post a week. It isn't that I don't have anything to say, lol.

 The ring below, brand new in my Etsy shop, is a sterling silver, size 6 fancy rope design ring, with a 6mm round, Black Spinel gemstone. Now I say Black Spinel because that is the most likely answer. However, it could be a black sapphire, or even a black diamond. Most of my gemstones were bought in large parcels, of genuine gemstones, and unidentified. I used to test them, but now I simply don't have the time to do so. This is a lovely ring, and would make a great gift. My Etsy shop, has two promotions running right now. Make it Monday: Sunflower Fields Art

This is the subject for Make it Monday, this week. I am working almost every Monday, this month, so my posts may be earlier, or later than expected, for Make it Monday topics. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

I don't actually have an image, or video to share with  you, yet.  I am very busy promoting my Etsy shop, and I have had 3 sales already this month, so I am doing something right so far.  I am offering free shipping, on all domestic orders of 35 dollars or more, until Jan 1, 2017.  So, take advantage of that.  I have clearance/sale section, also.  You can get to my shop by doing a search for Missy69, or by clicking my Etsy shop widget in the column of this blog.

The kids, and I decided on two Advent calendars for this year.  I actually forgot that last year we decided, this year, that we would do a reverse Advent calendar.  What is a reverse Advent calendar?  First get a big box.  In the box, every day from Dec 1st through the 25th, add a nonperishable food item to the box.  On Christmas day you donate the food to a family that is in need of a Christmas dinner.  You can just set the box on their door step, and they will be blessed, and you get to be humble in your giving.  We will probably use one of the churches, or the school, to find a family that will need such a gift.  Some other ideas you could do are make a shoe box of gifts, similar to what churches do for Operation Christmas Child, but donate it to your local nursing home.  So many of the elderly have no families, and the smallest of gifts would make their day.  Be sure to ask your local nursing home, they might already have such a program and know just where the greatest needs are.  Make a care bag, or a few, for the homeless and drop them off to them on Christmas Eve.  Maybe that is what we will do with our dinner box.

The second Advent calendar, will be a fun crafty one.  We do one of these silly ones every year.  A friend of mine has given me two large wood slices.  I was thinking, if I get time, that I will wood burn a Santa face, or Nativity onto the wood slice, with 25 round spaces either on the beard, or around the Nativity.  Then we can tape things into the circles each day.  I would be totally reusable and look lovely on the coffee table, or dining room table.  I hope I actually get time to do it.  If not, I will be printing off a fun, silly one.  You can find a whole bunch of printable Advent calendars by doing a search on Bing or Google under images.  

Citrine November Birthstone Facts Beautiful Yellow Gemstone

Each month, I try to share a video about that month's birthstone. The birthstone for November is Citrine. The original birthstone, was Imperial Topaz, an extremely rare and expensive gemstone. Citrine is now the accepted birthstone for November. Citrine is an affordable gemstone, even in extremely large sizes, compared to other gemstones. Be careful when buying yellow gemstones. Some sellers will try to sell Citrine as yellow sapphire, or yellow topaz. Unique One Of A Kind Yellow and Black Steelers Color Painted Peacock Abstract Art

Last week I did the Bills, this week the Steelers. My husband is a die hard Steelers fan. Next will be a team that has green in it's team colors, because Peridot is the birthstone for August. My black paint pen, that I outline with, decided to die on me last night. It is much more difficult to outline with a tiny paint brush, so I kind of was not super happy with this painting. It does look stunning in the pics though. This one is yellow and black, as you can see.   I will be doing one peacock for each professional team. They are available to purchase in my Etsy shop. Why I Love Christmas Ornaments as Gifts

I love Christmas ornaments, making them, giving them, and receiving them. Why? Because, our Christmas tree is the story of our lives. I have in my personal collection of ornaments, ornaments my sisters and I made as kids, ornaments my Mom made and hung on our family tree when we were kids, ornaments I bought as an adult, ornaments I made, ornaments my kids have made, plus a few special ornaments that my husband has collected over the years. One of which is a special ornament that was his mother's, who is now deceased. For the longest time, every year I bought a new ornament for all four of us. So that one day, when my kids had their own trees, they could take their ornaments with them to their new trees. After a while I had too many ornaments, and not enough tree. So, we bought another tree, lol. Then a bigger tree. Now, I have lots more room for ornaments. The one tree, it is small, is our angel tree. It has all angels that I have collected through the years, plus our deceased dog's name tag, and some nurse ornaments given to me years ago. Our big tree, is the story of us. No theme, just a montage of our lives, the things we love, admire, and make us feel special. That is why I love ornaments as a gift. They are generally affordable, and you can find one that surely everyone will love. Between my Ebay and Etsy stores, I have tons of hand made ornaments to choose from. 2 New Hand Painted Gift Bags for Easter
