Each month, I try to share a video about that month's birthstone. The birthstone for November is Citrine. The original birthstone, was Imperial Topaz, an extremely rare and expensive gemstone. Citrine is now the accepted birthstone for November. Citrine is an affordable gemstone, even in extremely large sizes, compared to other gemstones. Be careful when buying yellow gemstones. Some sellers will try to sell Citrine as yellow sapphire, or yellow topaz. Visit my Etsy store to see three Citrine jewelry pieces, and all my items come with free USA shipping, and a buy one get one free sale going on now.
Change is good! I have reopened a new Etsy Pattern store, called the Pink Flamingo. I have a ton of inventory to list, and could take a while. I am looking at some other new creative endeavors that have more to do with teaching. My kids are growing up, and it is time to expand my wings. Join me in this new creative adventure!

November the Month of Citrine
It is November and that means it is time to talk about Citrine, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have been so busy that I have not had a ton of time for blogging. I am hoping to get back into the swing of it. I used to blog every single day. Now I am lucky if I get in once a week.
Citrine is the birthstone for the month of November. The most common variety of Citrine is the buttery, sunshine yellow color as in these stud earrings, from my Etsy store. While Citrine can be natural in color, the majority of Citrine on the market is made by heat treating very light Amethyst to the bright yellow color shown. It is a durable gemstone. These are sterling silver stud earrings. I offer a layaway service, and combined shipping. Be sure to check out all my other great items in my Melissás Menagerie of Stuff Etsy store.

Citrine and Zircon Bold Solitaire Ring
From missy69
I showed this ring with my wedding band so you could see what it would like like if you chose to wore it like that. This is a checkerboard faceted stunning yellow gemstone, that I assume is Citrine. It is a genuine stone, not a CZ. It is 8mm round and there are genuine white Zircons as accent stones. It is a size five and just beautiful on the hand. I prefer Paypal for payment, check or money order is OK, but will slow shipping. I offer a layaway service so be sure to ask about that.

Imperial Topaz The Original November Birthstone
Imperial Topaz is the original birthstone for November. However due to the rarity of finding it, and the expense of buying it, Citrine has pretty much become the accepted birthstone for November. They are very similar in color so it is hard to tell them apart. Imperial Topaz is a completely natural topaz. If I own any Imperial Topaz in my collection of loose gemstones, I have not yet found it. I would love to have one, though. With only 33 days left until Christmas, this is my gift idea for today.

November Birthstone Citrine and Imperial Topaz
The original birthstone for the month of November is the Imperial Topaz, which is very similar in color to Citrine. Because Imperial Topaz is very rare, and expensive, most people choose to use the more affordable Citrine for their birthstone in November.

More Citrine November Birthstone

Is It Citrine Or Imperial Topaz
Citrine is the birthstone for November. While it is a lovely yellow gemstone, Imperial Topaz, which is a yellow natural form of Topaz has the much higher value. Watch this cool video from the Antiques Road Show, and see how one woman became very lucky. You won't be disappointed. If you are like me, and have a bunch of yellow gemstones in your collection, don't just assume they are Citrine. You might want to have them tested.

Citrine The November Birthstone
Citrine the lovely golden yellow gemstone, is the birthstone for November. It comes in varying shades of yellow, with darker, golden hues being the more valued. While Citrine can be found in natural, untreated forms, it is extremely rare. Most modern day Citrine is obtained by heat treating light colored Amethyst, mostly from Brazil. It has a 7, on the Moh's hardness scale, making it durable, but still needs care when wearing. I would not recommend wearing it for everyday wear, in a ring, or bracelet. Not only is it the birthstone for November, but it is also the 13th wedding anniversary stone. Citrine is believed to help the liver, heart, kidneys, muscles, and digestive tract. It also helps creativity, and personal clarity steering the wearer away from self destructive tendencies.
