Silver Semi Mount With Orange Sapphires

I recently found this sterling silver semi mount from one of my favorite Ebay sellers. I have been looking for a setting to put a pear shaped smokey quartz into. I wanted pink gemstones, but that has been difficult to find. I did find this lovely one with orange sapphires, as the accent stones. I think a lovely chocolate smokey quartz would look awesome in there. What do you think? I can not wait to get it.

Happy Birthday Aunt Fifi

Today is my sisters 30th birthday. My kids call her Aunt Fifi, her name is Felicia. She does not read this blog, so I know she will not see this. She is coming from NY, next week, to visit. We are going to celebrate her birthday, my daughters birthday, and mothers day all on that next Sunday. We have not seen her in 4 yrs, since moving to Florida. My daughter was barely a yr old. These are a pair of Teal Topaz, and CZ earrings, made by me that I am going to give her as a birthday gift. I had many different options of which piece, I wanted to give her. I decided on these, because she has to dress up every day for work, and these are perfect for that. These snap set CZ semi mount castings, I purchased at Jewelry Television. They have been having nicer, and nicer silver semi mounts. I love it.

Pink Zircon and CZ Ring

Zircon is one of the oldest gemstones, known to man. It is almost always natural in color, with no enhancements. Matter of fact the CZ which is a man made gemstone, was made because of the popularity, and scarcity of natural Zircon. Zircon can be found in a variety of colors. This one was sold to me as Imperial Zircon, which I am not sure what that means, but it is a pinky peach, with a hint of orange color. It is a 6mm Trillion that I set in a stunning sterling silver, size 6, cz semi mount. It is rhodium plated to prevent tarnishing, that also means it can not be sized. This stunning ring will be available to purchase, in my missy69 Etsy store. Zircon is a very durable gemstone with a hardness of 8, on the Mohs hardness scale.

Bold Smoky Quartz and CZ Ring

I love this ring, definitely one of my favorites. I have had this Smoky Quartz gemstone for some time. Now it finally has a home, in this lovely sterling silver unique semi mount. It is a size 6, and the center stone is surrounded by round CZ's. Usually stones are cut in cabachon form because they not transparent, not this one. This Smoky Quartz is so clean and wonderful, you can see right through to the floor of the gallery of the ring. This ring is stunning, and will be available for sale in my Etsy store. This semi mount was purchased from Jewelry Television, from a new line of semi mounts they have available. The first one I purchased I was not pleased with. This one, and the two others I just bought, were awesome. One hint if you buy from JTV I have found their settings often do not fit the size stone they say they do. Buy the setting first, then measure, and purchase your stone.

Emerald and Green Sapphire Ring

This sterling silver green Sapphire semi mount, was purchased from one of my favorite Ebay suppliers. He does not stamp all his settings 925, but I own several of his settings, and they have never tarnished. I hand set the lovely 3.5mm round Emerald into the setting. The surrounding stones, are mint green Sapphires. It is a size 5, and I must say I love it, definitely one of my favorites. It will be available for sale in my Etsy store, or you can buy it here, and get free shipping, and 5 dollars off of list price. Emerald is the birthstone for May, and is a very durable gemstone.

Teal Topaz With Pink Inlaid Mother Of Pearl

I bought the pink inlaid Mother Of Pearl semi mount, from Jewelry Television. It is sterling silver, with a half bezel mount. I will not by the bezel setting again, I just do not like the way the stones get set in there. I have used back set bezel settings, and they were okay. They are also nice if you have a delicate stone you do not want to ding. Anyway I do love the pink inlaid mother of pearl, just not the half bezel setting. It did come out quite lovely though, when finished.

Topaz does not come out of the ground this color. It is either heat treated, or irradiated to achieve the desired color. White Topaz is very abundant, thank goodness, as that is what is used to get all the wonderful colors that Topaz comes in. This ring is not for sale, it will be staying in my collection. However I do have other loose gemstones in this variety, so be sure to watch for more if you love this color. I also have a pair of earrings in Teal Topaz that are available for sale. To see them you can see the archives, or click on my Etsy mini, at the bottom of the page, or just ask me.

Tigers Eye Member Of The Quartz Family

Tigers Eye, is a genuine gemstone, from the Quartz family. Created from Hawks Eye, part of the components of the material has oxidized to a brown color, and kept its fibrous structure. These fibers usually show up as stripes, on the gemstone. Some finer quality, Tigers Eye, will show a cats eye effect, with chatoyancy. Tigers eye, has a hardness of 6 1/2-7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, it has no cleavage, making it a durable gemstone. It is always cut in cabachon form, and has been used in gemstone carvings for many years. It is susceptible to some acids, so care should be taken not to wear Tigers Eye, when cleaning or working with chemicals. This ring, was made by me. It features a round Tigers Eye gemstone, with cats eye effect, set in a sterling silver ring, with rhodium plating, and Bella Luce CZ's. The Bella Luce semi mount, was purchased from JTV. This ring is available for purchase in my Etsy store.
