Change is good! I have reopened a new Etsy Pattern store, called the Pink Flamingo. I have a ton of inventory to list, and could take a while. I am looking at some other new creative endeavors that have more to do with teaching. My kids are growing up, and it is time to expand my wings. Join me in this new creative adventure!

Make A Chain Mail Bracelet With Riogrande
Check out the tutorial for this lovely chain mail bracelet. Riogrande is a wholesale jewelry supplier, and if you have never checked them out you should. They make this look so easy, trust me it is not. I have been trying to learn chain mail, and it is quite hard, in my opinion. I hope to master this someday. I love this one.

How To Set Gemstones In A Non Snaptite Setting
If you go back in my archives, you will see the video that showed you how to set gemstones into a snaptite setting. Snaptite are by far the easiest to set stones in. Now you can learn how to set them into traditional prong setttings. The first gemstone setting tool, is rather expensive, but nice if you can afford one. I do not own one, about 60 dollars, but I have one on my list. You can use just plain old gemstone setting pliers, about 10 dollars, those are the ones I have. Be sure to watch both videos, and you can watch it as many times as you need, to get the procedure down. It does take a lot of practice, and is not as easy as they make it look. Start with inexpensive settings, and poor quality, or cheaper gemstones, in case you chip, crack, or otherwise break your materials. Most of all, have fun, and start making your own jewelry.

So I Tried The Beaded Bezel Tutorial
On Sunday, my husband, and kids were going to be out of the house, for an extended period of time. I figured this was a great time to try the beaded bezel tutorial, I shared in a previous post. First let me say, if I ever say beading looks easy, please slap me. I spent the first two hours, just mastering the first three rows, ugh. Of course some of that time was spent watching the video a few times. Once it clicked what the first three rows were supposed to look like, I got it. Ha then came the rest of it. Now I did finish it, but it is way too ugly to share LOL. I did learn a few things, however.
1- I have a disability for following directions. I think I have mentioned that before. Had I followed the directions, it might have come out better.
2- I think I can modify the directions, to suit my inability to follow the directions supplied to me.
3- There must be an easier way to accomplish the same goal.
4- I will be messing around with some different ideas rolling around in my very active head, to see if I can come up with something less complicated. I am not so sure of this, but I can dream.
In conclusion, I will be doing this pattern again, and again, until I get it right. I would love some words of encouragement from all of you experts out there.

Happy Birthday Aunt Fifi
Today is my sisters 30th birthday. My kids call her Aunt Fifi, her name is Felicia. She does not read this blog, so I know she will not see this. She is coming from NY, next week, to visit. We are going to celebrate her birthday, my daughters birthday, and mothers day all on that next Sunday. We have not seen her in 4 yrs, since moving to Florida. My daughter was barely a yr old. These are a pair of Teal Topaz, and CZ earrings, made by me that I am going to give her as a birthday gift. I had many different options of which piece, I wanted to give her. I decided on these, because she has to dress up every day for work, and these are perfect for that. These snap set CZ semi mount castings, I purchased at Jewelry Television. They have been having nicer, and nicer silver semi mounts. I love it.

Teal Topaz With Pink Inlaid Mother Of Pearl
Topaz does not come out of the ground this color. It is either heat treated, or irradiated to achieve the desired color. White Topaz is very abundant, thank goodness, as that is what is used to get all the wonderful colors that Topaz comes in. This ring is not for sale, it will be staying in my collection. However I do have other loose gemstones in this variety, so be sure to watch for more if you love this color. I also have a pair of earrings in Teal Topaz that are available for sale. To see them you can see the archives, or click on my Etsy mini, at the bottom of the page, or just ask me.

I Really Need To Get Going
I have been so busy the last 3 weeks, I have not been able to make any new pieces.
I finally found the beads I want to buy for my Beadpen. I got the bead pen here http://search.artbeads.com/?gallery_view=&lcr=1&view=&q=bead+pen&x=15&y=17
It took me a while because I wanted a certain kind. I now have to order them, as they will be specially made. The cost is a little bit more than I wanted, meaning I will have to sell it at a higher price, than I intended. But they will make a lovely gift for someone.
I still have not received all my ring supplies, but they should be here soon. I got some really interesting semi mounts coming, and I can not wait to start creating, and sharing them with all of you.
I should have some time later today, to start creating. Have a great Monday, everyone.

Hot Pink Tourmaline Ring
Tourmaline is the official USA gemstone, and one of my favorite family of gemstones. It is almost always natural in color, with no enhancements. It comes in a whole range of colors, including this lovely Hot Pink color. It has a hardness of 7-71/2 on the Moh's hardness scale. It is known to have inclusions, and is often accepted in the trade, especially in the more rare varieties. This ring is a size 6 1/2, sterling silver featuring a 3mm round Hot Pink Tourmaline gemstone, flanked on either side by two 3mm round White Topaz gemstones. Each stone weighs approximately 10 points, giving it an approximate carat weight of 1/3 of a carat, or 30 points. This would make a lovely wedding band. It sits low, and will not catch if you work in a very active profession. I have two of them, and they would make great ring guards as well. If you are interested you can purchase through my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16276222 for 29.99 for one ring. Or you can buy through this blog, and get free S/H to USA customers only. Any questions, please feel free to ask me.

I Now Have A PR of 1, New Slideshow
Yay Google has given my blog a PR of 1. I am so excited. That was one of my goals for this blog for 2009, now I can focus on some of the other goals. I had a very kind follower send me an email on how to create a widget for my items for sale, thank you. I was able to add the widget itself to my blog very easily, but then I added pictures to the widget, and bang no pictures showed up. So I need to tinker with that some more, it might take a while lol. I am not really all that technical. I have almost all my new jewelry supplies I ordered, and I can not wait to get started on my projects. I like to wait until all my supplies are here, so I do not have to take everything out, and put it all back several times. I will be making a pair of matching earrings for my mom, for her birthday on Jan 5th. They will match the White Buffalo Turquoise necklace I made her for Christmas. I can not wait to share all my new projects with everyone. I would like to thank all my followers, and readers for such a wonderful year. Here is to a Happy and prosperous New Year. See you in 2009.
It took me all day today to figure out how to add the scrolling slideshow. As you can see it is finally there. I could not add prices to them, so if there is something you like, comment me or email me for pricing. All shipping is free if you order from this blog, to USA only. I am currently not doing international shipping, due to issues with my post office. It seems being rural, does not equal good service. I have so much more stuff to add, so be sure to check it out if you need a nice Valentines Gift for instance.

Tanzanite Topaz SS Ring, Big and Bold
This is one of my most favorite rings, I have ever done. It is Tanzanite colored Topaz. I bought the stone last year, to go in a pendant, for a Christmas gift. The stone did not fit in the Pendant setting, however so I just held onto it. Then I found this lovely sterling silver setting, and it fit perfect. The ring is a size 5, and the gemstone is a 8mmx6mm. Tanzanite Topaz is made by taking white Topaz, and either heating it, or irradiating it. It is a genuine gemstone, that has been treated to achieve this color. It is the color of the top quality Tanzanite that sells for thousands of dollars per carat. This lovely ring is available for sale, here through this blog for 39.99 Shipping is free, to US only. If you are interested please contact me for further details. It is available for 30 days only, and then it will be staying in my collection, as I love it. I will be adding a widget with all my pieces that are available for sale here on my blog. You can always check out the itmes I have available in my Etsy store, by clicking on that widget.
