Genuine Gemstone Keepsake Locket Pendant and Necklace

First an update about my Society6 store. For now I have placed it on hold, because I did not realize my computer does not make the proper pixel sizes. So, I do not have that technology. All my paintings have been returned to my Etsy store, and I am looking at possibly listing all the fun nature pictures we have taken through the years. Of course if they were purchased, those images would no longer belong to me, so I have to think about that.

 I found this adorable charm lockets, at my local craft store. I thought how cute would they look with gemstones in there. If you have ever bought parcels of gemstones, you know that a lot of them are so small you could not practically use them. So, I put a mixture of real colored gemstones, from my own personal collection in there, added a gold tone chain, and voila a beautiful gift idea. I hope to do more of these with more particular stones, like all the same color, or two contrasting colors, etc. This beauty is available in my Etsy store. Unique One Of A Kind Yellow and Black Steelers Color Painted Peacock Abstract Art

Last week I did the Bills, this week the Steelers. My husband is a die hard Steelers fan. Next will be a team that has green in it's team colors, because Peridot is the birthstone for August. My black paint pen, that I outline with, decided to die on me last night. It is much more difficult to outline with a tiny paint brush, so I kind of was not super happy with this painting. It does look stunning in the pics though. This one is yellow and black, as you can see.   I will be doing one peacock for each professional team. They are available to purchase in my Etsy shop. Painted Snowman Coasters and Painted Snowman Wooden Garden Stepping Stone

As you can see I put the poinsettia painted wood slice into the ground, yesterday. Last night I finished painting the next one, a snowman at night, with snowflakes. That one still needs to be sealed before I can put it in the ground. I will be making a water garden, hopefully in the Spring, and these are a nice touch. I think I am going to make them as made to order items in my Etsy store, but first I have to see how they hold up outside in the elements.

My First Layaway Customer

For many years I used Ebay, to sell my used items, and my jewelry pieces. With their fees constantly going up, I went to Etsy. I have done pretty well there, considering how bad the economy is. I have always offered a layaway option, for my buyers, but have never had any takers on Etsy, until now. This lovely Kunzite ring has been placed on layaway, through my Etsy store. Neither me, or the customer, knew exactly how to make it work. After some reading, and asking around, you just check other on your checkout, and then I send a revised invoice with rules of layaway. I am so excited about this, and I hope I get more customers that would like to give it a try.

Peridot the Birthstone for August babies

Peridot, also called Chrysolite and Olivine, is the birthstone for August babies. It can range in color from yellow-green, to green-yellow, olive green, and some brownish in color which are not optimal. Peridot of the nicer varieties are found in Arizona in the USA, China, Burma and Pakistan. Peridot has been found with a cats eye effect, and star asterism. It is extremely rare, in those varieties, and I have never seen any either in a book, or in person. It is a doubly refractive gemstone, and some have a lily pad inclusion. It has a Mohs hardness of 6 1/2-7 and can be very brittle. Care must be taken when setting Peridot, due to its brittleness, and when wearing to avoid knicking and chipping the stone. Alot of Peridot, sold in the stores is not the lovelier quality, therefore many August babies do not like their gemstone. However, there is gem quality Peridot available, and it is quite lovely. If you look at my pictures posted, you will see what I mean. Peridot is said to be running out, and is making the stone more rare and thereby more valuable. Get your Peridot, before it runs out. I personally prefer sterling silver, but Peridot is quite lovely when set in yellow gold.

As most people who visit this blog know, this is a jewelry, gemstone, and craft blog. I have several items shown, that are available for purchase. I also have jewelry, for sale in my Etsy store.
